Welcome to the Department of Human Services! My name is Misty Garrett. I started teaching at Crockett County High School in the fall of 1996. I have taught many classes of Family & Consumer Sciences (now called Intro to Human Services) and Child and Lifespan Development over the last 25 years. I have also been involved with the high school yearbook for much of my career.
I grew up and graduated from high school in Dresden, TN and then attended UT Martin where I obtained a degree in Home Economics in 1995. I then completed a Masters degree in Family & Consumer Sciences a few years later from UT Martin as well. My entire teaching career, I proudly proclaim, has been spent in the Crockett County School District. I love teaching and I love doing it at Crockett County which has my whole heart.
In college I met and married Brad Garrett, a Crockett County native, and I have lived here ever since. We have two boys, Drew, a junior in college this year and Will, a junior in high school. Our family loves sports and often chooses to vacation near MLB stadiums in order to attend the ballgames there, but we often vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN as well.
When home and if the weather allows, I spend a majority of my time on our porch, enjoying coffee, working on school work, reading, and loving on our furry family member, Mo, our blonde lab/retriever mix.
I have been truly blessed in my career and have met and am still meeting the most wonderful people who eventually grow to become the workers and productive citizens in our awesome community. It brings me much pleasure to be a part of molding and shaping our students to continue making Crockett County one of the best places to live.
