School Counselors work to enhance and encourage the academic

success of all students. The School Counseling and Career Guidance

Program provides services to support the academic development of

students in the areas of: study skills, test-taking skills, course selection,

academic planning and advisement, interpretation of test results,

coordinating tutoring, planning a high school course of study to meet

student’s post-secondary goals, post-secondary planning and application

process, school transitions, and understanding personal learning styles.

Information on the ACT college entrance exam including test dates, online

registration, and sample questions. Students planning to attend two- and

four-year colleges will need to take this test during theirjunior or senior

year.

Information on the PLAN test which is taken by all sophomores in the fall

of each school year. This test gives students information on their career

interests and abilities as well as a predicted score range for the ACT.

Information on the SAT college entrance exam which some students

planning to attend two- and four-year colleges may wish to take.

Students may be able to take a CLEP test to get college credit for

knowledge gained during high school.
